Writing and Dyslexia Tutoring
Hello! I am a book lover, life-long writer, and plant nerd.
As a child, I spent hours each day writing stories and poems. In college, I enjoyed writing papers and answering essay questions on tests.
My original writing tutoring started at the kitchen table where I helped my younger sisters learn how to write (yes, Catherine is one of those sisters) . In college, I would help my friends with their papers. I started formally teaching academic and creative writing in the fall of 2018 at Metropolitan Open School, where I worked as a language arts teacher until May 2022.
I enjoy teaching writing during one-on-one so sessions can be personalized to the student’s skill level and interest. I firmly believe that good writers are also book lovers. My years working in the youth department at the Kansas City Public Library have given me a lot of experience in helping kids find books that they will love.
I started tutoring dyslexia in 2022.
I am so excited to help you or your child discover the joys of writing and reading.

Dyslexia Tutoring
Welcome! I am Catherine Pajor. A mother of two young kids, budding gardener, and a dyslexia specialist. If I had been told as a teen I would be helping people learn how to read and have better access to text, I would have laughed. I really struggled to learn to read and was not a confident reader until my teens. I dreaded getting asked to read in group settings and to show written work. Little did I know then, but I am dyslexic!
Being a dyslexic Dyslexia Specialist gives me compassion and understanding for my students. I understand that it is not a lack of effort on their part that leads to their struggles and challenges. It is that they have not been taught in a way they understand. I strive to meet them where they are and instruct and guide them in the ways that are best for them.
I was trained at Lexability in Barton Reading and Spelling by Pam Taylor, one of Susan Barton’s first Master Certified tutors. I worked with kids from 6 years of age all the way to 18. I was employed there for four years. I stopped working for Lexability after having my oldest child and chose to spend time as a new mother at home with my son.
Tutoring was not my first experience working with kids. I nannied and babysat from the time I was 12 years old until I was 20. I have always been drawn to working with kids and helping them grow and learn. I believe each child has a unique learning style and enjoy exploring that with them.
